INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (IMS)
The Integrated Management System (IMS) is implemented at all our operational sites, delivering our Health & Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) policy objectives. The IMS offers consistency of service and operational performance. It structures and controls documentation relating to HSEQ ensuring that it remains accurate, relevant and useful to our workforce and customers.
The IMS has achieved certification, to internationally recognised standards, at a number of our operational sites:
ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 Combined Certificate
Legal compliance
The IMS hosts a system for ensuring compliance with legal obligations by maintaining a framework that identifies relevant legal requirements and a traceable process for evaluating compliance.
We maintain membership to industry affiliations such as the British Metals Recycling Association, Bureau of International Recycling and National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC). This ensures good awareness of future legislative changes and also allows our voice to be heard by regulators and other third parties.
Customer Focus
We are accredited with ISO 9001 Quality Standard for all of our sites. We are proud of this achievement and use it to ensure that all our business dealings, whether it is the buying of material or overseas export, are performed and handled in a professional and efficient manner.
S. Norton is dedicated to the provision of metal recycling services and products that satisfy its customers’ needs in terms of quality, cost and timing. We have developed an effective Customer Concerns and Satisfaction procedure and welcome all feedback from our customers whether positive or to raise a concern/complaint about any aspect of the company. This feedback is vital in ensuring we continually improve the service we provide to meet our customers’ needs and expectations.
We have achieved End of Waste status (EU Regulation 333/2011) at our sites for iron, steel and aluminium scrap. This assures our customers that the material is a secondary raw material and not a waste, as our processes have removed the non-conforming products from the material we are exporting.
A safe place to visit and work
We have a commitment to the safety of our workforce, contractors, visitors and members of the public. We understand and can demonstrate that safety is of paramount importance.
We operate an effective Health & Safety Management System and we are accredited with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety standard. We have a dedicated Health & Safety Team and staff at all levels are trained to high standards.
Zero waste – our largest environmental commitment
Our commitment to ‘Zero Waste’ is substantiated by heavy investment in sophisticated plant and equipment to maximise recovery of valuable and useable materials from primary treatment residues.
S. Norton has attained ISO 14001 accreditation for our environmental management systems and, along with our subsidiary company, Axion, we have designed and implemented processes to overcome the challenges faced by recycling treatment residues.
We have achieved Competence Management System (CMS) certification to demonstrate the competences required to maintain compliance with the environmental permits and the technically competent management of permitted activities.
